Tricky isn't Good: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup in Natural Beige

Hi amigos,
Healthy Skin with sunscreen quality is a beauty mirage. Lets see how true it is!!

HAVE A LOOK:
Neutrogena Healthy Skin compact makeup comes in a transparent round case, that shows every bit of color through its transparent bottom that doubles as the top as well. Unlike many compacts its mirror is right against the foundation itself. The applicator sponge goes in the bottom compartment.

HAVE A VIEW:
The most important aspect of Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup is the SPF it includes. I have hardly seen any makeup products which go beyond SPF 30 but this one claims to have SPF 55. This really sounds amazing esp for those who come across extreme sunlight or have to stay in light for longer period. It has Helioplex that covers broad spectrum UVA and UVB rays.

The shade Natural Beige is as very true beige with very minimal yellow tones and sometimes shows an orange tint when applied thickly or not blended well. The shade suits my skin very well that is somewhere between neutral and warm and is NC 27-30. This was the best thing that attracted me most.

As far as the texture and finish is concerned, that is completely unlike the hyped Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup. The texture of foundation is slightly gritty and though the finish is matte but the skin does not usually show up as smooth and subtle unless applied with a twist.( I am gonna get to that later). The product is a no-go for those having dry skin unless they prime and moisturize very well. Otherwise it sticks to dry patches stiffly.

HAVE A SAY:

The finish of Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup matters a lot with difference in application method. I initially tried it with the sponge that it comes with which is a total failure. The product absorbs more in the sponge than in skin. The makeup kinda disappears somewhere.
Doing it with fingers is a complete disappointment. Makeup just settles in to fine lines, and does not blend rather stays on top clinging to dry patches; the finish goes patchy and bumpy all over.

Left side: Blended with stippling
Right side: Blended through fingers
Blending it with stippling brush in true stippling motion is as successful as it can be. The makeup blends in well and does not go as dry and blotchy as it would with any other way and rather blends in quite effectively and gives good coverage too. I have used it more than once in this way; it would cover pigmentation and the skin would remain smooth as well. Only downside is that stippling takes more time than usual sponge or finger blending.
I usually do not need a setting powder, but might need any concealer as final touches. It stays up to 4-5 hours that is normally what I expect from this foundation.
One thing that may concern some, it does to me, is that the mirror being next to foundation gets very messy. The product is full up to the ridge and transfers very easily to the mirror and looks really splashed around. Moreover, the quantity of other foundations is normally is 1 oz. whereas this only gives about 0.35 oz. I would really like my foundation to last me some time before I rush to get another one.

HAVE A NOD or SHAKE:

  • I would love to wear on a very sunny day when I have to stay in light; SPF 55 is no small deal.
  • The shade is a superb match, with good pigmentation that can at times double up as a concealer.
  • Wearing it in summer rather than winter would be better; not very suitable for dry skin but would give a good matte finish.
  • Applying it on is somewhat tricky. One will have to experiment to get around it; stippling worked for me though.
  • I only expect it to last max 4-5 hours; definitely isn't much.
  • Not big fan of packaging; sponge along is no use, product gets spilled over and quantity is lesser than a usual 1 Oz.

So that was all about Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup from. Hope it was helpful. I didn't actually expect that something from Neutrogena won't be smashing. Well, there is always a first time for everything.
Till next post.
Cheers
Cheeky Chic

    1. Thanks for commenting.
I usually dont face breakouts. So have never felt with this too since it isnt oily. But if sunscreen bothers you, compare the ingredients; if they are much alike, drop it otherwise do try it.

  3. Spf 55 is their selling point, however I think based on your review that it won't be convinient for everyone especially those without strippling brushes. How does it fare with liquid foundation brushes by the way?

  5. We don't have Neutrogena makeup here in Australia, and I can't say I want them here with this review! Doesn't sound like it's particularly fantastic! That's quite a bit of work for a not terribly flawless outcome.
